Steve Jobs does not only present the new iMac at the presentation, he also introduced some new Software to the public. This Software was improved:
- “iLife”, now “iLife ‘08″
- “iWork” now “iWork ‘08″
- “.Mac”
- Let’s start with “iLife ‘08″, Steve Jobs shows what iLife ‘08 offers to the user, there are 5 applications: “iPhoto”, the greatest improvemen is, that iPhoto is makes automaticly photo albums, named event albums, because today it is not unusual that you have 5.000 – 6.000 photos on you computer. There is also an improvement, to make it easier to search one certain photo. You just slide over the event album cover and you see all the photos which are in these album, so you don’t have to open the album and so you can save a lot of time. “Apple” also made it very simple to make or split albums or to add photos to an album. - Now we go over to “.Mac”, with this programm you can publish your photos for example in the web. Today 1.7 Million people use this programm. There is also one great improvement, if you (for example) have pictures form a football game you can put them on the web, and publish it to other users. If someone else has also pictures from this game, he can just add his photos to the web gallery, he just has to send them to a special E-Mail adress, and they appear at the gallery. “iPhoto” and “.Mac” are nearly syncronized and so you get the new photos from the web gallery on your own “Mac”, isn’t that simple?
- Now let’s go back to “iLife’08″, or more precise “iMovie”. This programm takes form nearly every camera automaticly video. It is very easy to make movie out of many short video. You select all videos you want in the movie, select music and name the movie. Thats it, it’s very very simple. Of course you can publish it in the web with “.Mac”, with an higher resolution as an dvd. (Watch it here, starting from minute 42).
- Here are the new things of “iWeb”: now it is very easy to make live widgets, you can add every script and also you can put “Google AdSense” in your Website. Personal Domains are supported now and you can easily switch the themes. (Starting from minute 51.30, here)
- Next we’re going over to “iDVD”, the perfomance of this programme was improved, and now there are ten new animated thems and a pro-quality encoding. (Here it starts from minute 54)
- Another improved programme of “iLife ‘08″ is “Magic Garage Band”, you can choose one of the 9 music styles, for example latin. Now you see all the instruments which appear in a latin song, and if you choose one of them and you can hear a solo of them. Well, it’s just fun, but you can also make very good songs with it. Additional there is to say, that you can also put your own voice in the song. (Starting here from minute 55)
- Last but not least, there is also something new in “iWork ‘08″: at first you see some new text effects, named “Squish”, “Drift” etc. There are also new transitions and something special called “Instant Alpha”, with this feature you can cut out easily a part of a picture, without marking it etc. so you can save a lot of time with it. Another new programm is “Smart Build”, it allows everyone to make high-production value animations, without needing any knowledge.
